Doing good and doing it well

Year:

2009

Objective:

The Board of Directors, meeting in February 2009 in Santo Domingo, in addition to confirming that the name of the XL FIFyA Congress should be “Doing Good and Doing Well”, established as its objective: To build a conceptual framework for the management of Fe y Alegría that helps to unify our practice and make it coherent with the institutional mission of doing good.

Background:

With this decision, the Assembly intended to give continuity to the process of reflection on the multiple aspects of Fe y Alegría’s institutional management in order to deepen it, exchange points of view, share learned lessons, systematise learning and identify areas for improvement that inspire an institutional management coherent with the institutional vision and mission.

The XL Congress 2009, San Salvador, El Salvador, starting from the Base Document previously elaborated and enriched by the contributions of the national Fe y Alegría teams, emphasising on reflection around four axes of dialogue on management:

  • “Shared Leadership – Participatory Management – Teamwork – Internal Communication”.
  • “Functional Autonomy – Networks – Organisational Construction – Decentralisation”.
  • “Strategic Vision – Human Management – Characteristic of the Person”.
  • “Knowledge Management – Transparency – Good Governance”.

From these thematic axes, the Movement, through its delegates to the XL Congress, reflected, dialogued, sought consensus and enriched the Base Document to finish shaping it as a reference for institutional management, identifying some specific features.
