XXIX Seminar-Workshop Peru: Institutional Strengthening (2008)

Year: 2008

Objective:

The Executive Committee of the International Federation of Fe y Alegría, meeting in Bogotá, Colombia, established as the objective of the Seminar-Workshop “Institutional Strengthening of the Federation of Fe y Alegría”:  to elaborate a global plan for Institutional Strengthening that responds to the challenges and expectations of national FyA and generates an articulated international movement in favour of quality education for the popular sectors.

Background:

The Seminar-Workshop arose from the resolution of the XII General Assembly in Bogota, which aimed to move forward in the formulation of the Institutional Strengthening Project of the Federation. In order to achieve this, the Executive Committee made a proposal for the Seminar-Workshop, in which it created a Coordinating Commission, made up of different members from several FyA (Bolivia, Peru, Venezuela, Central America) and a delegate from the Federation. The Seminar-Workshop understood institutional strengthening as the process of enabling the FyA Movement, as a whole, both for the dynamic reformulation of its Mission, so that it can respond to the challenges of the economic, political, social and cultural context, and for the formulation, evaluation and administration of projects oriented to the achievement of quality popular education. We understand that Institutional Strengthening is a means for the Institution to achieve its purposes.

The Congress:

The Seminar Workshop worked on the proposal for institutional strengthening by promoting, both at National and Federation level four dimensions which will be taken into account: pedagogical, socio-political, pastoral and financial and three aspects: equipment, training and reorganisation. By equipment, we mean all the human resources, infrastructure, equipment and operating systems. Training is understood as the qualification of people to take on the challenges. Reorganisation is understood as the adaptation of the functional structure to present needs.
