XXXVIII Congress in Brazil: Our practice of Community Social Promotion (2008)

Summary:

The countries elaborated systematisations and sent them to the Executive Secretariat, subsequently they were evaluated by the Commission of Programme 5 “Non-Formal Education and Social Promotion” (Coordinator: Gerardo Morales and Members: Alicia Díaz, Frankelly Martínez, Isaías Bezerra and Carlos Fritzen) who, based on the criteria defined by the Federation’s Board of Directors, selected four systematised community social promotion experiences to be presented at the XXXVIII Congress. XXXVIII International Congress Fe y Alegría Brazil.

Objective:

The theme of the XXXVIII International Congress was “Our Practice of Community Social Promotion”. In the call for papers (FIFYA 203-2007) that the Executive Secretariat sent to the countries to guide the systematisation of Community Social Promotion experiences.

The Congress:

In the Congress sessions, in addition to sharing systematised social promotion experiences (Venezuela, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Dominican Republic), they were reflected upon, analysed and debated both in plenary sessions by attendees, internal and external to Fe y Alegría, and through group work. In addition, Luis Ugalde (President of AUSJAL) and Fernando Franco (Secretary of the Social Sector of the Society of Jesus) spoke on the subject.
The delegates of the 17 Fe y Alegrías in the sessions of the Congress contributed orientations and lines of action that were taken up by the Commission of Programme 5 “Non-Formal Education and Social Promotion” of the II PGDFI to promote and generate the implementation of this programme.
